| Who We Are: Launched in October 2006, the Moontown Foundation (Moontown) is a non-profit social venture committed to developing innovative programs designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate the adoption of metropolitan-scale energy conservation, energy production and energy management solutions that also serve as green career pathways out of poverty for economically challenged and socially disconnected teens and young adults. Moontown’s personal development and professional training programs help teens and young adults acquire green trade and technical skills, as well as gain professional and business skills required to successfully participate in the emerging green economy. Moontown is currently working with Green For All, Efficiency First, Home Performance Washington, Northwest Energy Council, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce Urban Enterprise Center to develop substantive green public policy legislation, workforce development and economic development opportunities to help accelerate the transformation to a green economy. To date, over 300 teens and young adults have participated in our programs. Moontown has supplied over 5,000 Seattle area households with over 10,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs, several hundred low flow shower heads, window caulking, door weather stripping and other energy saving materials, delivering an estimated 400,000 thousand kilowatt hours of residential energy savings. Graduates of our programs are now employed at organizations such as EcoFab, Energy Services, Inc., Got Green, LiUNA, Seattle Public Utilities, and the Veteran’s Conservation Corps. Please note: Our office is located on the Eastside, but 100% of our efforts are conducted within the city limits of the Seattle Metropolitan Area. MORE | ||

| Who We Are: Camp Connect California offers siblings separated by out-of-home placement the opportunity to spend a week in the mountains for a unique sibling-focused camping experience. For many of these campers, some only see each other once a week, once a month, once a year, or for some, only once every few yeras. Campers spend five fun-filled days with their siblings and the other campers –who share the common experience of being in out-of-home care. Campers range in age from 9 to 18 years old and are from all over California. Camp Connect California continues to be set apart from other summer camps because of the value and emphasis placed on the sibling connection. Camp Connect California is the hallmark event for the statewide Sibling Connection Initiative. All Camp activities are intentionally designed to build trust, encourage healing, and strengthen sibling relationships. Such activities include rock rappelling, a rock wall climb, a sibling hike, lake activities, horseback riding, arts & crafts, sibling blanket activity, a birthday celebration, theme events, and much more. Throughout the week, siblings reconnect with one another and build the foundation for nurturing relationships that will guide them toward the paths of becoming healthy adults in society. MORE | ||

Founded in 2002 as MacRenewal, a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit public organization, we are now known as NextStep Recycling. We implement our three-part mission through focused efforts in Lane County Oregon, other areas of the state, and internationally. Educate and empower low income and disadvantaged Oregonians and others by providing refurbished computers that allow access to technology and the Internet; Recycle computer hardware and other electronics in an environmentally sound manner, keeping hazardous waste out of Oregon’s soil and water environments; Provide skill-training opportunities to those who are considered unemployable, are currently underemployed, and/or are people new to the job market; and Offer education to the general public regarding the importance of electronics reuse and recycling and the impact of these kinds of waste on our environment. Accept donations of computers and other electronic equipment, computer-related items, software, and manuals; Refurbish computers and other electronics and places them with people who do not normally have access to this technology; Sell, at an extremely low cost, additional reusable items in our on-site ReUse Stores in Eugene and Springfield; Sort and dismantle unusable donations for recycling at appropriate local and regional facilities that meet our environmental stewardship standards. Since 1999, NextStep has accepted donations of hundreds of thousands of computers and other electronic devices. In the process, we have put thousands of pieces of equipment back into use in the community—including 18,000 refurbished computer systems (current to June, 2009) and thousands of items sold at an extremely low cost through our ReUse Store—and recycled over 6,200,000 pounds of electronic waste (e-waste). More than 1700 volunteers have donated over 136,000 hours of service refurbishing and recycling computers. Of those volunteers, hundreds have enhanced their employment marketability through experiential service learning and extensive training by our staff. MORE | ||

| Who We Are: Tolerance Minnesota is an award-winning diversity education program that utilizes popular culture to help teachers and students understand the importance and impact of all cultures in our society. Tolerance Minnesota creates partnerships with students, parents and teachers to celebrate diversity, confront prejudice and encourage civic responsibility through resources, lesson plans and art residencies that meet Minnesota's graduation standards and fit seamlessly into teachers' existing curricula. The Color Project teaches children that, in reality, there is no such skin color as black or white. Instead, the lesson teaches children that their skin is made up of many different colors. Mixing paint together to form their own unique skin color gives students a sense of pride and a realization that they cannot be placed in such simple categories as black and white. The Color Project further reinforces the idea that appearances should not be the only way to describe a person MORE | ||
