Who We Are: The mission of The Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) is to "provide a gathering place where maritime history comes alive through direct experience and our small craft heritage is enjoyed, preserved, and passed along to future generations." CWB is a free admission, hands-on maritime museum established in 1976 through the vision of Founding Director, Dick Wagner. CWB's livery (boat rental), floating and non-floating exhibits, Boatshop (education center), and wide array of hands on programming, captures and interprets the maritime history and culture of the region. CWB can be enjoyed by viewing exhibits from shoreside or dockside, but our preferred method is to provide an educational adventure, through participation, using our historically significant boats and the learning of maritime heritage skills.CWB's youth programs put kids in boats and help kids build boats while teaching life skills. Serving diverse populations, CWB youth programs engage the hands, hearts and minds of participants.
