Who We Are: The ROOTS (Rising Out Of The Shadows) Young Adult Shelter provides overnight shelter to young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 who may not have anywhere else to go. ROOTS is the only shelter program in Seattle specifically addressing the needs of homeless young adults seven nights a week, 365 days a year. These young people are too old to access youth shelter programs, but often feel unwelcome or threatened in emergency programs serving older, single adults. Each night of the year, ROOTS provides its guests with a safe, warm place to sleep, hot meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies, laundry access, showers, and other services such as case management and referrals to transitional housing.
