| Who We Are: Camp Connect California offers siblings separated by out-of-home placement the opportunity to spend a week in the mountains for a unique sibling-focused camping experience. For many of these campers, some only see each other once a week, once a month, once a year, or for some, only once every few yeras. Campers spend five fun-filled days with their siblings and the other campers –who share the common experience of being in out-of-home care. Campers range in age from 9 to 18 years old and are from all over California. Camp Connect California continues to be set apart from other summer camps because of the value and emphasis placed on the sibling connection. Camp Connect California is the hallmark event for the statewide Sibling Connection Initiative. All Camp activities are intentionally designed to build trust, encourage healing, and strengthen sibling relationships. Such activities include rock rappelling, a rock wall climb, a sibling hike, lake activities, horseback riding, arts & crafts, sibling blanket activity, a birthday celebration, theme events, and much more. Throughout the week, siblings reconnect with one another and build the foundation for nurturing relationships that will guide them toward the paths of becoming healthy adults in society. | ||
